Why Your Passion Doesn’t Work for You

“Follow Your passion”

“Choose a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life!”

“Go after your dreams and the money will follow!”

This is something we have been listening to many people all around and to be said out of which many don’t follow this themselves.

There’s a difference in understanding the essence of passion. In very simple terms we consider passion to be something we are willing to do all the time; we have boundless enthusiasm for and a strong affinity(emotion) towards it.

Right?

This is what I have heard all the time but yet people miss out on something more crucial to add upon which is the sacrifice towards that. The Sacrifice of almost everything in and around you to complete that task and not contemplate what the result may be yet enjoying the journey.

In my personal life I have been trying different things to discover what binds me to it in a way that I forget about what’s around me. Many activities helped me grow and analyze what more can I go through and most important how will it work for me in the future so let’s determine a few of many points why passion doesn’t work for people.

  1. The Shiny Object Syndrome.

Getting attracted to different things that are new or pay more.

People tend to change their interests, workflow, lifestyle, etc to get into something that your friend or someone you follow does and you want a life as them.

It’s not wrong to try different things but once you stick to something complete it until you get irked doing it every day. If you find exiguity of interest to sacrifice for it to some other alternatives you can do.

    2. You try hunting passion but not working towards it.

In the course of trying different things people tend to just find things that would fascinate them and could be termed as passion (this is amusing to hear) instead of getting into the opportunities and paths that come along and are workable and scalable as they move into it.

    3. Fear of failure.

To understand what is passion for us and what passion is in us we need to get into and analyze various things.

But the reality is people have the fear to fail (just thinking about it lowers confidence in you), the fear of a stable income that you need to leave for some time to concentrate and become consistent towards what your doing, a fear of social pressure that what society would say when you leave a highly paid job and status with that.

    4. Hesitation to talk to People.

Are you proud of what you do?

It’s great if you’re but people who aren’t happy talking about what they do won’t succeed in it.

People you talk to are your prospective customers or viewers but not until you talk to them or let them know what you do, how you do and what is beneficial for them.

It’s important that you meet and converse with the experts in the same field, you find people with the same interests and you collaborate with them.

    5. Having a passion that won’t pay you.

There’s nothing that won’t pay you but people get into things that won’t pay them enough.

Your area of field should have a base that you work upon, a vision for years to come and needs to be scalable to generate enough for you. Everything that you do won’t pay you until you work day and night towards and this is practically not possible for anyone of us to do due to which in the process if we fail anywhere in between we tend to quit and move to something else.

Few things never grow and would go on constant levels which won’t make you happy doing it.

Atlas I would assume that we all know that it’s important that whatever we do we do with formal consistency and patience.

Stating a small quote that I believe in –

Harry Briggs puts it as:

“If you just want to pursue something you enjoy, that might be a sign of laziness rather than genuine passion.”
