“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is
the foundation for all abundance.”
― Eckhart Tolle
From the past two articles we have been focusing on being grateful and yes, it’s important too but it’s not really easy to just start. A series of understanding about our mind, body, surrounding, people, etc is essential and it takes time to develop this.
Today very briefly I will tell you few easy steps that you can take to develop the habit of being grateful and have a happy mind and life.
- Slow Down.
Just Slow down and take notice of your mind and surrounding. Experience the small things around you and be thankful for what all you have and how beautiful and useful those can be. With the acknowledgment of everything you feel fulfilled, you feel satisfied and this gives happiness. Even if you have less of what you want, be happy, and stay working towards achieving that.
- Maintain a Journal.
This is something that every successful person does. Writing down what you felt was good in your life today makes you calm, relieves stress, and gives a silent sleep. Start with writing one thanks note per day and increase it as you move ahead. The more you recognize things around you the more you become thankful towards life. Put a specific time into your daily schedule to write and soon there will be many things you will be grateful for.
- Have an Optimistic Mind.
Change your point of view towards things in and around you. The more positively you think about a situation the easier it becomes to tackle it. Being thankful for what is left even after a worse situation destresses you mind and helps you dilute the bad situations.
- Respect Yourself.
Ever thought about it seriously? Do you respect your decisions, achievements, growth?
Or is it just that we focus on what a person ahead of us has. Right?
In the race of life to achieve success or to become like someone else we forget celebrating and acknowledging our small achievements, we forget that we have been growing and our decisions have worked out as well. A person who might be ahead has even started ahead, even if it’s about reaching earlier learn from mistakes of people, be grateful for their teaching, and be grateful to yourself to learn them. This is the way you recognize your strengths and work towards growing them.
- Maintain a good company.
It’s about the quality of people you be with. Eliminate and Always stay away from people who put you towards negativity, toxic things, and debilitating patterns. Good people teach you the power of grateful practically but being thankful for what value you provide them i.e., you understand the power of giving practically, they push you towards productive tasks, they take you with them in their growth, they support you in your bad times and so on. The most important is to know that they tell the importance of relationships, the importance of being connected, the more you connect to good people the more you achieve, and the more grateful you are.
Let me end with a small teaching that says Stay Patient.
It’s something important to understand that no habit will develop overnight, it takes time to understand the minute things of body, mind, and surroundings. The faster you adapt to your personality the sooner you start the realization but we must stay patient to realize the effects on us. Being grateful is the most beneficial virtue of all but takes time as it changes your many things in you and makes you a better personality. The changes may not be observed by you but people who understand the importance join you.
“Being Grateful is a Duty, Not a Choice”.
I hope I was clear to convey the message.
